Our Comment on “Community-specific guidance for environmental sustainability in particle accelerators” has just been published with Springer Nature in Volume 7 Issue 11 of Nature Reviews Physics!

We share how community specific environmental sustainability guidance could help address the climate crisis within research and beyond. We also highlight our living document - “High-level environmental sustainability guidelines for large accelerator facilities” - in which we start that process.

Thanks to months of collaboration and effort from early career researchers (ECRs) across Europe, we shall be submitting a 10-page executive summary of “Early Career Researcher Input to the European Strategy for Particle Physics Update: White Paper” to the upcoming European Strategy for Particle Physics Update (ESPPU). This comes with fifty-five recommendations for the future of Particle Physics following an ECR survey, which received over 900 responses!

Invited to speak on our high-level guidelines at IPAC 2025 in Taiwan!

This summer, I had the absolute honour of being invited to give a talk at the International Particle Accelerator Conference (IPAC) 2025. This year, IPAC was based in Taipei, Taiwan, so before my invite I had originally decided not to attend on the grounds of environmental impacts. However, being given a talk at IPAC is not something I felt I should turn down, 1) because of the reach my talk on sustainability in accelerators and research could have, and 2) because – quite frankly – I’m an early career researcher and at some point I’m going to need to job hunt.
